Marks Mad World

OMGWTF – I have no clue.

It’s hot, it’s humid and gosh darnit, strippers are people too!

Status

I’m in the corner, in the shade and away from the heat. I have water, ice from Sonic and six box fans. Oh, and a banana, a few celery stick and some kind of strange, healthy looking thing from Trader Joes for a snacks.
I need a hammock too!

Preface

Who is Emay Ayche? I can’t begin anything here without saying who Emay Ayche is—or was—as a photographer and artist. For many years, I adopted that name because it’s phonetically spelled out by my initials, even though I spell it ‘Emay Ayche.’ You’ll Emay here and there all over the site, and I’m currently migrating Emay’s stuff here. I don’t want to use my nom de plume anymore; it’s not really an alter ego, just a pen name, a pseudonym. No doubt, ‘Emay’ is buried in my story. It’s everywhere: on signed artwork, on signed photographs, on the website, and on social media. I’m not going to delete it all—I’m just going to render it all defunct. There are a lot of people out there who know who Emay is, but I thought it was time for me to take that journey inside myself without having some sort of pseudonym. So, when you see ‘Emay,’ it’s me. Thanks.

About Me

The Foundation I have spent a lifetime making art, and Mark’s Mad World is where all of those disparate pieces finally collide. I am a photographer, a sculptor, and a mixed-media artist who thrives on heavy ink, acrylic paint, and vintage photomontage.

Creativity is my medicine, my balance, my place to express what I don’t understand, if not very much I do understand.

The Process I am an old-school, analog creator at heart. While I have a deep understanding of digital applications and use them to stretch the boundaries of my work, everything I do starts in the physical world. It starts with the mess of rubber cement, the jagged edges of a rough-cut layout, and the undeniable permanence of ink on paper. I look for art in naturally occurring spaces, and I build it by hand when I can’t find it.

The World The world is absurd, frustrating, and stressful. Mark’s Mad World is my way of exteriorizing that noise. It is a consolidation of my photography, my visual diaries, my writings, and every creative instinct I’ve had over the years. The madness is baking, boiling, and braising. Welcome to it.

If you break things in anger, just say, “Oh! Sorry. I’m making art supplies.”

A Note on My AI Assistant

I also use voice-to-text to get my thoughts down in Google Docs, and then I have Google Gemini proofread my drafts. It helps me clean up spelling and grammar, but I want to be clear: AI isn’t writing this for me. It’s my assistant. I read every word, make my own manual changes, and give the final approval. Secondly, I will always do my best to list sources. My art and imagery uses no AI at all, though I use digital creations, I may use it from time to time to change colors, textures and things to be printed; I also use it with Photoshop retouching tools. There are no complete works made with AI.

RESEARCH- I also look up general ideas with Google Gemini. I will always credit the source.  If I combine, update or change any of the recipe data, I’ll credit myself, or no credit at all.
